Little Sisters Story

Little Sister Alumni are Amazing!

Jan 30, 2026

In 2025, we got a chance to celebrate some remarkable young women who are changing lives and making a meaningful difference in so many ways. At our inaugural Changemaker Award Ceremony, we honored 6 Little Sister graduates for their contributions and achievements.

Ranjana demonstrates remarkable leadership and entrepreneurial spirit at her Montessori school where she is actively working to bridge Nepal's educational gap and provide high-quality, child-centered learning. Ranjana is the first Little Sister to serve on the Nepal Board.

Anju has been a Coordinating Mentor for over 13 years and has dedicated her professional life to bringing education and exceptional dental services to those less fortunate.

Sumitra is an exceptional school principal and educator with a profound dedication to her students.

Sarita has overcome overwhelming odds to bring representation for marginalized people as a Public Service Officer within Nepal's government.

Bindhya, the very first Little Sister in October 1998, is a successful nurse and has supported the education of two other Little Sisters and become an inspiration and role model to all the Little Sisters.

Kabita (not pictured) continually inspires and empowers young women to ignite their leadership talents through her work with Women LEAD Nepal.

The truth is, I could not be more proud of all the LSF graduates. They are truly amazing! We currently have 8 Little Sisters who have completed or are pursuing PhDs, 10 medical doctors, 60 Little Sisters with master's degrees and over 800 Little Sisters with bachelor's degrees in everything from engineering to nursing, architecture, pharmacy, IT and more. In fact, Little Sisters are enrolling in higher education at 4x their peers nationally.  AND, 40 Little Sisters have chosen to "pay it forward" by supporting the education of current Little Sisters!

This is exactly what Usha and I dreamed would happen when we started Little Sisters Fund all those years ago! And NONE of this would be possible without the steadfast support and incredible generosity of donors and supporters like YOU over the years! We are immensely grateful! Dhanyabaad! Thank you!

Namaste and Happy New Year!

Little Sister Spotlight: Suhani

Suhani’s parents both started working at a very young age. Her father completed 8th grade and her mother studied up to grade 5. They moved to Kathmandu from their native villages in search of better opportunities. They are working hard to provide an education for Suhani and her younger brother. Suhani’s father works as a security guard while her mother cleans a school in the morning and sells snacks in the afternoon.

Suhani is a sweet girl who likes to go to school and learn new things. Nepali is her favorite subject. She likes the color pink and loves to wear Kurta Surwal, a traditional South Asian dress. She also helps her mom do household chores and likes to sing and dance during her free time. Suhani wants to become a doctor in the future.
